The movie industry has been in major upheaval over the last two years. The forced shutdown of theaters around the world caused many blockbuster films to be continuously delayed or moved to a streaming service. With film lovers finally willing to go back to the theaters, movies are finally starting to hit the big screen again. These are four of the most anticipated movies of 2022.

The Batman

There are few comic book characters that have the box office drawing power of Batman. The popular character gets his first feature film in a decade when “The Batman” hits theaters on March 3. “The Batman” promises an even grittier take on the character than the popular trilogy from Christopher Nolan. Robert Pattinson stars as the title character with Paul Dano, Zoe Kravitz, and Colin Farrell completing the supporting cast. Anyone that misses “The Batman” in theaters can watch it on HBO Max on April 19.

Top Gun: Maverick

“Top Gun: Maverick” is the long-awaited sequel to the popular film from 1986. Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer are both reprising their roles from the original. “Top Gun: Maverick” has seen its release date changed eight times since the film was initially announced, but it will finally hit theaters on May 27. It will also be released on the Paramount+ streaming service 45 days later.

Jurassic World: Dominion

“Jurassic World: Dominion” is set to finish the newest trilogy in the “Jurassic Park” franchise. The film is set four years after the climactic conclusion of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.” The large group of escaped dinosaurs is now roaming freely throughout the United States. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill all reprise their roles from the previous films. “Jurassic World: Dominion” will be released on June 10.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

“Black Panther” will go down in history as one of the best superhero movies ever made. All plans for the highly anticipated sequel were put on hold when Chadwick Boseman surprisingly passed away in 2020. Fans are now left wondering how the franchise will move forward without its titular character. There is very little known about the plot of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” but it will surely be one of the year’s biggest films when it is released this November.
